A New Eposide In Our Live Begins

It is time to begin a new adventure in our lives. We have began a new blog titled Urban Living in Downtown Fort Worth. Our Rv lifestyle is over and that blog needs to end. With the passing of my Dad, that is a good place to stop and began anew.

So bookmark the new blog and delete the old blog and lets move on together. I will bring forward some of the links and leave some of them behind. Though Shirley has been living here since last year it is still new for me this year.

The RV is for sale with a new lower price. Please visit the Motorhome Specialists website for our Pace Arrow Vision motorhome.

So, lets begin the new adventure and go to the new blog today. This blog will no longer be updated.

Thank you for stopping by and reading our RV lifestyle.

We Buried Our Dad Today

A service was held in Hobbs, NM for those that knew him and called him friend on Saturday, March 29, 2008. He was then transported to Electra, TX for burial in the family plot on March 31, 2008. In attendance were his two sons, their family, Grand children, Great Grand children and his two nephews with their families.Daddy had outlived all of his friends and co-workers of years gone by. With his death is the passing of a generation as said by his nephew Gary of Houston, TX. My brother Jim, myself, Gary and his brother Larry are now the next generation.

My father had a long and good life, was married to a good wife and mother, and retired in his early 50's to enjoy a very long leisure life. He and mom traveled and went thru three RV's.

He had always said that he would live to be 120. Now he can surpass that by living forever.

From all of his family we bid him a "Good By".

Kitty and I Have Arrived At Our Final Destination

It was only a 36 foot motor home and it took me 2 whole days to unload. I put two loads in storage, and made 6 trips to the apartment. Now I have a SUV so it was about as full as boxes would allow. I still have the final storage load in it and will deliver that soon. I got 3 fishing rods/reels, 2 tackle boxes, and misc little loose stuff. The apartment is packed full. There is only a single walk in closet and a entry coat closet. The bowling balls are on the bedroom floor and the rest that we have no place for is in boxes. So far just 3 boxes. There is a small spot in the bathroom that might do for them.

I got to go buy a printer stand this weekend. No, nothing for the printer and paper. And there is not a desk for the laptops yet. Will look for a small writing type of desk and chair. Put up a deposit for kitty today, ouch.

The rv is in the shop getting its 2 repairs, see past postings. I will pick it up Monday and put it up for sale. I guess you better put us down as no longer traveling and not an rv'r.

EDIT: the rv repair came to $1387.90. The rv is now at Motorhome Specialists for consignment sale. Wish us luck.

It was a good ride and we have slide into home. Do it if you can.

I'm At Holiday Park, Benbrook Lake

I left the rv park in Schertz about 8:30 am and made it to here at 1:30 pm with a gas stop. I actually stopped 2 times for gas, the 1st at 3.05 per gallon and then later at 2.85 per gallon. I ended up putting in $118 gas in the rv.

Very nice trip, good weather, no problems. I will get the rv cleaned out and in to service to get the two items repaired prior to its sale. I suspect it will be several days before its worked on and hopefully not too expensive. But it is what it is!

I'm tired and will post the mileage, etc tomorrow. OH YES, the COE Holiday Park has a Hughesnet dish on the attendant gate. Maybe there is wifi there. Will let you know tomorrow.

Mileage: 533 from LLano Grande, 246 from my stop at Schertz, TX. No wifi it appears.

On To Home We Go

I should pull out about 8am and head on north. I will stop for gas some where, probably north of Austin and have the 1/2 tank needed to put it up for sale. First stop is the lake and depending on the time I'll take a load to storage and then a load of the food to the house. Tuesday is hopefully the rest of the contents with a 2nd load to storage and the remaining to the house. Tom Cat has a vet appointment for shots and clipping. then he gets to go to the house.

Got to get breakfast and then head out. Ya'll drive safe out there.

And He's Off

I left about 9am, after saying good bye and paying my electric bill, headed to Harlingin and US77 north. With all the weather reports it turned out it all went east and north. No bad weather to speak of. I stopped at the rest stop around Waverly and talked to my daughter and got the latest report before I went the final 50 miles to SA.

I arrived at the Stone Creek RV park about 3pm and got a short pull thru. I say short as I just barely fit with the car attached. I guess I'm 50 feet long and thats the length of the pull thru. I'm also spoiled to concrete and gravel and not this wet dirt. Makes for a messy carpet. YUCK!

I will be here till Monday morning and then head it home. More later.

Stone Creek RV park, exit 177 on I35 go south 1/4 mile the the sign
$48.46 with TACO or Escapees discount for two nights
GPS: 29*37.111', 98*15.801'
Mileage: 282 from my last stop
wifi and 20 channel cable

Its Friday And What To Do

I'm thinking of going tomorrow but..... The weather here will be good but strong south winds, 20-25 range here in Mercedes. Where I'm going, just north of San Antonio, will have 70% chance of rain. I can stop at the rest area south of San Antonio and wait out the rain and spend the night, a guarded rest area. Or if the rain is a hit and miss make it into the rv park in Schertz. Its about 263 miles or 5 hours drive. I want to do a weekend trip to see my daughter and grandkids. Then leave on Monday morning for the 268 miles to the COE at Benbrook Lake.

OR put the trip off a week and try again that weekend. I have till the 1st of March till I must leave. I'm paid till then. The passing fronts cause us to have strong winds here. Yesterday the winds were 25-30 with 40 gusts from the south. All due to the low sitting in West Texas. That is still better than the cold coming to the DFW area. I could get in more golf here by staying but I have to pay. My membership was up on the 12th. It costs $18 for 9 and $22 for 18. A little cheaper than home courses. I'm back to 2x a week golf now vs the 4-6 days I was.

I guess we will all know when I make my next post. That will be tomorrow at the wifi thats available at the rest stop or at daughters, Schertz, or from here in Mercedes. Stay tuned and lets see what the weather forecast is tomorrow and make a final decision.

Mileage I got from the map is:
90 to Rivera
46 to Robstown, Wal-Mart stop if necessary
57 to the rest stop on I37
88 to Schertz

Each of these is a stop if its raining.

RV odometer reading: 82028. 545 miles form the rv park in Weatherford to the rv park in Mercedes with a gas stop. 531 to the COE park at Benbrook Lake.
