Service At The Ford Dealer

We got there around 8:30 am. I drove and Shirley followed in the car. The RV has no tail or brake lights. She was my brake lights. The problem turns out to be a bad switch that burned, shorted and burned, some wires. This caused the lights to fail including the gas tank level gauge to not show full when it was. The dash a/c was not cold and its awaiting parts. We are back at the lake campground awaiting a phone call by me to them around 10 am to see if parts are in. I really think they may be in tomorrow but to late for service. Probably Monday. And also Monday we will take advantage of the tranny fluid change and coolant flush specials and get inspected.

While all the above is going on, we will go to Ancira for our new awning, front jack, and furnace fan noise tomorrow. And parts to replace the stuff on the roof from prior hail and wind damage. And somewhere this fall is new tires and brakes. When we sell this rv it should bring a higher price with the care it has received.

We Are Home, Finally

We left Childress, TX after a very noisy early morning rain and hail. We went back to bed and got up at 8:30 am. We ate breakfast and left for home. We got to the Ford house for service about 2:30 pm and will have to go back on Thursday. Our driving lights still are malfunctioning that prevents us from getting a state inspection.

And now that we are parked at Benbrook Lake, Holiday Park, space 16, the rains are coming. This is the first time we have seen the lake above normal pool level. Over the last two years we have see the lake level as low as 14 feet.

The map says its 1220 miles from Zion to here. We drove 1271 miles which includes side trips to the rv parks, etc. The rv needs to be gassed up as the tank is at 15 gallons or below the 1/4 tank mark. I will have to get gas after the rv leaves the ford service on Thursday. We towed the suv Childress before we unhooked it and Shirley followed the rv. Remember the rv has no rear lights except turn signals.

We will go get the Cavalier and then have two vehicles for our use. That will be tomorrow with the coming weather.

Close but Not Quite There

We are in the Wal-mart parking lot in Childress, TX for the night. We are experiencing rv light problems. It seems we have no brake lights on the rv. Earlier we stopped in Clarendon, TX on US287 at a NAPA dealer to get a bulb. There we had stop lights but no turn or flashers. I do believe we have a switch going out. Since we have no rv brake lights we must stop for the day. We also do not have parking lights. And at times no left tail on the suv. At times no right tail on the rv. The suv is ok, it has all lights now, but we may not the next time we turn on lights. The suv is hooked up and has not been unhooked since Friday.

Oh, in Hurricane, UT getting gas, I had to make a left turn. Shirley was behind the rv at the time and she said on the radio that my flashers were on. Lots of switch problems. The Ford dealer here can not work on us. No electrical diagrams and no parts. So its on to home in the morning.

We both are using a signal coming to the parking lot. She is on a different one than me. We are secure but they are not. SHHH, don't tell. See ya later.

We Are Nearly There

We drove from Zion to Flagstaff, AZ. The winds from the front got to 60 here at the weather station. We were about 2-3 miles from an RV park when our patio awning got blown off. Ripped the fabric at the top and it lay down on the road. Tore it all up. We got up to this snow, SNOW, the next day and cut the aluminum cover off the rv and we were off, at 9:30 am.

We are currently in Tucumcari, NM on our way home. Seems we have been gone for 7 months and Shirley is sick of traveling. So we are headed to Texas. We should be there in a couple of days. We will make our first stop at the rv service center for a new awning to be ordered, new front jack, stairs to be fixed and inspection sticker.

In support of DW, its been cold where we have been and to go further north is a wait of nearly 2 months. So home we go. Pictures of the trip and more when we arrive.
