Food here or The Lack of Quality
We have been out to eat several times and we are not happy customers. We have gone to Luby's, King Chinese buffet, two Mexican eateries, Pizza Hut and Popeye's Chicken. So far we have found that the Mexican food is difficult to make here. Not the usual Tex-Mex which is difficult to find also. Last night we went to Fiesta here in Weslaco on bus83 and we got the round Doritos from the bag, a cheese dip, and a puree', in a blender, dip with added onions and cylantro. There were no sliced tomatoes, just a juice. The meal was not much better. The other Mexican place was in Mercedes just north of bus83 in a small strip with parking. As we discussed, it seems it is difficult to make Mexican food down here. We don't recomend either as a place to eat.
The Popeyes was good but is now closed. I guess cajin food does not go well here. The Luby's was good food. This one is in Weslaco along the US83. The Chinese buffet was good and had lots to select from. They say there is a choice of 100 items. We will go back there. It is located by the HEB at US83 and Texas. The pizza was at the Pizza Hut by Wal-mart on Texas at US83 in Weslaco.
If any of our readers have suggested place to eat we would like to hear from you. Other wise its stay at home. Oh, yes, the food here at the park should be catered. Not that good and too expensive. Our opinion and that of those that DO NOT attend the noon and wednesday evening buffet.
I did get a pretty good haircut at Jerry's in downtown Wesleco. $7.00 plus tip and they shave around the ears.

I have been wondering what the eateries were like out on the road...Here, where we live...the "World is our Oyster" "so-to-speak"!!!
We have great eateries...from fast food to the most classy of places with great food choices...
It has been our experience, in the past, that we are a spoiled people out here in California...
I cook almost all of the time though ... especially while on the road...now that I have a kitchen...
We have not been to a park that provided any kind of meals yet...pay or no pay...
try the koa in ft stockton, tx. we stopped there in 01 nd they had an evening meal. dont know about it now thou. overall, the food on the road is below par.

We were at the KOA in Ft. Stockton last year and it was wonderful. A Bar-b-q plate. Uhmmm good.
Don't try El Pato in the Valley. It should be named El Rauncho. It's a chain. Have you tried Furr's? It's pretty good. We like it anyway. There is the "Crazy Buffet" which was international in flavor, but the speciality was oriental. REally good and some different stuff that I wouldn't eat anyway, like octopus. It's in McAllen on Nolana, I think. Big billboard down on 83. There is a Fuddruckers there too, maybe just down the street from the Crazy Buffet. Always worth a stop.

Well, Richard, it's in the 30's here at night too. Generally the Valley has even warmer weather than Yuma.

We have had the cold here in Willcox, AZ the past two days - and last night, it froze!! When the clouds cleared this morning, there was snow on the mountain tops! Hopefully it will pass on through here and next week will be warmer as we head to Q. Will miss you two. Stay warm!
