My High School Web Page

I went looking for the web page for my high school and went browsing there. I had told them via some way I now have forgetton that I was a full time RV'r and was not able to attend any of the summer gatherings as we would be far, far away. That was some 2-3 years ago. Well, to my surprise, they have linked this to the class page. I'm posting this so that those the read our travels can go and see MY class. I am deeply honored. Thanks

No News is Good News

Its been golf, rain, contact lenses.

The golf is once a week at different courses. Played the Canyon West this week. Nice course and not difficult. From the back tees its in the 66xx yard range. The most difficult course I have played this year here is the one at Aledo, TX. Its a 73xx from the tips and difficult. But its also a beautiful course. I'll play it again, from the 66xx tees, and see if I do better the second time.

Next week is the Mineral Wells course. Never been there so it will be interesting. Hitting my fairway woods now that I now where to put the ball. For me, the ball is center or to my right. My driver is also more center than left.

The contacts are the same ones from last week. My new ones did not come in today when we went to get her new ones. Her dominant eye was changed and she is having difficulty with that. Shirley is getting the "monovision", which is one close and one far but still with the bifocal.

I did play with glasses and its a much better world when you can see. With the contacts its difficult focusing down there, at the feet. Hit the ball much better with the glasses. From the back tees, it was bogey golf with a couple of dbl's.

Shirley's parents are having some repairs at their house. A new tub in the front bath with new potty. The house has been painted outside, super good job. Next is new storm windows. We go by and look. DW goes by nearly daily to see if there is an errand to be run.

Or neighbors have suddenly been gone. We see her on occasion but not him. We will try to catch her and see if he and she is alright.

Contact Lens Update and Our Space

Our space here at the park we found. There are 20 spaces and they rent for 3 months minimum. This time will work out for us. So far we have been here for about 3 weeks. With the rv repairs it took that long plus the 2 weeks we were at the COE on Benbrook Lake. We are paying $225.00 plus electric. We pay the utility, TXU, direct. If you are going to near here for a 3 month or longer time period, stop by here and see if there are any spaces available. Right now there is only one open. We have gravel to park on, grass for the yard and trees for shade. Convenient to the super store, auto dealers, movie, gas, good food and for us, her parents.

We had a visitor Sunday. This rabbit came calling next door and stayed. We have lots of birds and squirrels, our first rabbit. Hopefully there will be more.

I went to the OD today and we discussed my eyesight. With this second set of lenses I went from a 1-10 with 1 low. In the right eye I went from a 2 (first set of lenses) to a 5. In the left eye I went from a 9 to a 5. The first lenses were very thin. They folded with very little effort. The second set of lenses kept their shape much better. I tore the first lens set, but only one lens.

I will have a new set in about a week which is a third mfg. I have on the second right lens and the first right lens. But its different mfg. Hopefully this third set works for my vision. I am getting much better in handling the lens and putting them in. Getting them out is still a trial and error.

DW has not decided if she will keep her lens or try another method. she is in the bifocal now. This means that one lens is set for distance and one is set for closeup. She has on her second set of lenses and the second week. She prefers her "20 year old eyes".

Last of the RV Repairs

When we went to CW to get our awning, the turn signals worked till I depressed the brakes. Today we went to the Ford house to get it fixed. It turns out that the short was in the rear toad connection. It had manged to touch on its cover and short to the prongs and cause the above problem. Once that was fixed, all works as it should. Our 7:30 am to 3.00 pm time was spent there. With this, we can now plan on staying in our space for the remaining time of the 3 months.

The temperature here is low 90's with 42% humidity. Not hot yet but slowly getting there. When the rains stop, the temp will rise.

Hopefully you traveling are having a good time seeing the sights. And the two on the Alaska cruise are having fun. And the Kansas farmers have gotten all their spring cleanup done. We don't have any plans past the next 3 months. We will be here, parked being with family. Oh, is any one playing the "Runescape" internet game?

Repaired Camera and New Awning, Life is Good

The remains of the old awning. The fabric ripped in the wind as we neared Flagstaff, AZ. The recorded wind speed was 60 and we drove into it at 40-45 mph. The awning was still attached at the feet and the top part rolled onto the highway. We were about 3 miles from an RV park when it happened.
And here it is, the new awning put on today. It took three appointments to it done. It cost just under $1200.00. And I also got a new a/c cover for the front unit. We also need a new solar panel as the one we have is cracked across the corners now. That means I must go to Ancira again to get it. I got the awning at Camping World and saved about $300.00 over the cost from Ancira. I don't recommend them for repair as their cost are to high.

The camera is back from being repaired. That was a 10 day trip and a 6 day travel time to us. It look like new and works fine. Now there can be pics with our time here.

We also must go back to the Ford house for more "light" repairing. Going to CW, the turn signals worked till the brake pedal was depressed. The "battery" light comes on and goes off with brake pedal depressed, flashes with the turn signals, and goes off when the gas pedal is depressed but comes back on when the pedal is released. Plus the a/c repair is not cold, grease on the carpet and, so far, finally, get the inspection sticker remains off the dash. All that is on Monday, hopefully.

We did see another identical rv like ours at Camping Worlds rv half. It had the manual satellite dish (we have a King Dome), no solar system (we have 240 watts and six '05 6v batteries) and we have the Howard steering system. The coach was stickered at $69,995. Will try to get the mileage, we have 81,0xx. We started with 666xx back in '05. It was a 36B model like ours.

Its Monday and No Awning

Our appointment was for 10 am in south Fort Worth at Camping World. We are 29 miles away in Weatherford. At 8:28 am a call came in from CW to reschedule our appointment. The service tech was not there as he had taken his young son, baby they believe, to the hospital this morning. We were totally discounted and ready to go. Actually DW had gone on an errand and was not back or we would have left by then. So, we re-attached and will try again Saturday at 10 am.

Neither of us have contacts. DW's are yet to arrive and mine will be about a week. I did go ahead and have new glasses made in case. So we will try again to get the right fit for us.

The camera is due back on the 6th via ground. With its return we will be able to get pics again.

No other news from here. We are just relaxing and enjoying the area and Shirley's parents and golf.

You that are traveling, drive safe and enjoy the view.

And Its Raining Again

And it did all night. Hard with some hail. We are under a tree so we have some help with the overhead protection. Our camera is on the way back from being repaired. Pics to follow next week. And the scheduled replacement of our awning did not happen due to the rain that afternoon. We are rescheduled for Monday at 10 am.

The contacts are not working out well. I have very good vision in my left eye from 5 ft to 100 yards. My right eye is blurred at any distance. And the lenses are so thin they will not release when I or DW tries to get it on the eye. It just folds back on the end of the finger. It takes 5-10 tries to get it in. I went back yesterday and we have new lenses on order, be in in about a week. We will try again. Played golf with them and could not see well enough to hit the ball or make a put. My worst round ever, 2-4 over on every hole. Not fun. I have new glasses and will play a round with them before the lenses get here to se how they work.

Shirley's new lenses are not in yet so there is nothing new to report. Not much else to add. its going to get into the mid 90's next week, IE HOT! Oh, playing a computer game called runescape. There is a free version and a hopping $5.00 monthly membership. You might try it and see what you think. If you like it, find me, texasguy028, and I'll give you the TIP page on shortcuts and cheats.
