And The Weather Has Gotten Much Better

The low has passed us and the sun came out and it has gotten warmer. Friday was in the low 60's with mostly clouds but warmer. Saturday was cloudy in the morning with clearing skies and then FULL sun and 70's. We do have a cool front for sunday, monday and tuesdaywith high's in the 60's. After that its warmer into the rest of the week.

We did play golf friday and ended with a 93. Lost one ball into the rough and one into the water, #11.

The rough is just unforgiving. I have started to pull some of my shots to the left. I have started watching my club face and a weaker grip. So far so good.

Today, DW and I went for a day trip morth of here. It was unimpressing. If it weren't for having paid for February we would head west on the 27th. Hmmm, thats today. We could be in Del Rio headed to see my dad in Hobbs, NM. Its just colder there this time of year. There is an RV park in Lovington, NM where we would stay a couple of days to see my dad and brother.

My dad is 87 and not in the best of health. He had to have a pace maker. He fell and broke his hip ball. With modern surgery, he is so doing better. Getting old is not anything he nor I and looking forward too. I hope my dad has many years ahead of a quality of life he can enjoy.

The Hower's have sent me a comment that they are here in the park. Go to there blog and see some very good pics of the park.

A Surprise Today

Getting ready to hit #3 from the drop spot. IE, I hit it into the water. From there, put it on the green and two putt for a double. The hole is #11 with the island green.

The next is a tee shot from #4 which is a par 4. The second shot required a 250+ second to the green. My tee went to the right and shorted me some distance.

The sun came out this morning and it was a beautiful day. The temp reached 58* from 41*. Tomorrow is better and the next week is better than was forecast yesterday. Should be much better.

I have a problem of not shifting to the left when I swing which results in a loss of distance. I don't know if I will ever be able to fix this.

Rain, Rain And More

Since we can't get out again today, I offer the following for your enjoyment. The fitness center with all the exercise equipment. Some very expensive equipment.

Some birds at the 9th tee. They are here everytime I come by. I have been told what kind they are but my memory is just to old to remember.

And I'm studing a putt on this green. This is #8 with water on both side. In the background is #7 green to my left. This green slopes to the pond.

Temp: 40* now, 39* overnight, 48* maybe and 0.12" of rain. Saturday and Sunday might bring us some sun and 70's before the next front arrives.

When it is Cold and Wet

The east pool by the rec hall. East laundry room beyond.

The tennis court across from the rec hall. And the rec hall. In here is the kitchen for the noon meals and the wed buffet. Church services are also held here. The pool is to the left and the tennis courts are to the right.

Through the tv we can see what is going on, where the crowd is and when to go to the pool hall, tennis courts, etc. In addition to this we have about 90 cable tv channels.

The Sun Did Come Out

The day started out with overcast skies and about 50*. As you can see it got much better. Off came the sweat shirt and both of us went out for some exercise.

DW took the camera to get pics of birds and ended up getting this "bird".

Was a better front nine than a back nine. messed up two sand shots and pulled a couple of drives.

All in all we had got some exercise, lost 3 balls to water and one to the tall rough.

You can see the rough in the first pic. Knee high stuff. Impossible to find a ball. I think that is the tee on #3. Its #2 and #7 that are close to the stuff. The lower pic is the tee on #18. Water on the left all the way.

Thats an ugly looking dude. He was in my way the whole 18 holes. The lady with him was cute though.

It won't be golf again till Saturday if then. Any way, we had a good time.

Oh, she did get some birds.

Oh Hum

Since we can't get out to get pic's, the pics will be of here. This pic is not of the dish for our internet but of the sewer hose of our neighbor, Charlie. He had to make up two 10 footers and a short 5 footer to get there. Yes, that is his connection. And yes, that is my connection. Thats my water bib but not his. Charlie's is to the right by his tv cable bow and electric box. If we come here next year, his space is the one to get because of the "cheaper" electric rate.

Next to us is this tree. The cat LOVES this tree. The birdes come to the tree and he LOVES the birds. He can just taste the bird.

Tomcat spends a good deal of time here looking out of the window. He shares the shelf with the printer and the modem and router.

I took some TV pics of the place. We are able to see on the tv what is happening around the park. There is a front gate moniter, rec hall, pool hall, east pool, shuffleboard area, and the golf course area including the starters shack on the #1 tee box.

I will post these over the next few days instead of how the weather is.

Temp: 50*, forecast of 52* light winds and cloudy overcast. Beats being in west AZ from what I've been reading. FL is sun and warm and looking at some "resorts" there, $1000 per month.

Its Still Cold But The End Is In Sight

BRRRRRRRRRRR. Warm South Texas got hit pretty hard. We did get to freezing down here. There has been, so far, no talk of a damaging freeze. All this was wednesday night. The high for wednesday was the lower to mid 30's depending on where you were.

Over night it was 35 with cloudy skies and a chance of rain. Current temp is 36, high so far is 37. I'm sure all those winter Texans are wondering as to what is going on. Looking head, it will be past next wednesday before it gets back to the 60's. The temps will crawl up to the 40's and 50's till then with chance of rain and cloudy skies. Again, BRRRRRRRRRRR.

We do go to the pool hall and shoot pool once or maby twice a day. It does get busy. There is seven very nice tables to use. They have the same as seen on the tv pool tournaments. There is men and women pool times and tournaments.

Dutch and Diana, rv travelers, sent me an email about playing a round of golf. They were in Harlingon at the time. Then this cold spell arrived and put a stop to that. I got another email yesterday and they will be moving to a Weslaco park on the 28th. Maybe by then the weather will be playable.

Edit: They will be staying at the Snow to Sun here in Weslaco.

Not anything to post pic wise, to nasty to get out. Right now we have something out there as the concrete is wet. Tomcat does not like this cold either. He spends the night on the electric blanket on the bed and on his pillowduring the day to keep off the floor where its cold. Our inside temp is around 70 so its decent. The floor, walls and ceiling get cold. The shades and front curtains are kept closed to slow the cold draft and cold temps thru the glass.

With this cold air and our not moving, the daily readers has dropped to 50 from 64. We are just not interesting I guess. To you that do stop by daily, thanks. We have you from all over the USA, Canada, England, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. There are some readers of unknown origin and language that stop by. So HELLO to all of you and thanks for stopping by.
